I've got sand in my what??

Last weekend, D and I went to a wedding up in Panama City on the beach. My best friend JC was getting married and I was in the wedding party. On Thursday, I went in to my folks town, got my teeth cleaned and visited with the 'rents. Sometime between then and when we were driving up on Friday, a wicked spider bit my right shin.

We met on Friday on a beach near where they were getting married and did the rehearsal. I thought the Nazi wedding planner's head was going to explode because we weren't there on time. I vocalized these thoughts, and while she did not find me amusing, I think everyone else did! The rehearsal dinner was amazing. It was at a restaurant called The Boar's Head. Drinks, appetizer, and dinner were covered. I had this AMAZING yellowfin tuna filet, just barely seared, and escargot & artichokes as my appetizer. D had this really yummy Greek-Stuffed filet mignon, and gator tail. We all just hung out that night.

Saturday was wedding day. The girls all went to get our hair done, and we all pretty much hated how our hair turned out. Mine was, quite literally, 4 1/2 inches high in the front. I had to redo JC's hair when we got back to the hotel. I also did her make up and told her 2 sisters to shut the hell up, that JC could say whatever she wanted today because it was HER wedding day and they needed to keep their traps shut. Which they did, and JC was very happy. The wedding itself was nice, but bloody hot (95 at least and facing the sun at 4pm). The reception was small and quick, and we did pictures on the beach.

D and I decided to stay up there for an extra day and drive home on Monday so that we could actually sleep in on Sunday. Such a good decision. We found some local lobster festival and a great Japanese Steakhouse. All in all, a good weekend.

Oh, yeah, except for my SPIDER BITE. The one that got so swollen and painful by Friday night that I couldn't put any weight on my leg. And by Saturday it looked like my leg might need to be removed. It was nasty and painful and just ugly. Everyone was convinced that a Brown Recluse bit me and I was going to die. Now, I have always reacted badly to bites of any kind, so I was not alarmed. I was not short of breath, fevered, weak, etc... Went to the Dr on Tuesday, got mega-antibiotics, and it is slowly getting better. But leave it to me... Something always happens to me...

Anyhow.. Work was crazy busy this week. This weekend will be too, and then on Friday, my whole family is leaving on vacation again. Nothing like a whirlwind to keep you going!!

Those Crazy Sicilians

So, I am going to a friend's wedding tomorrow, and will be out of town until Sunday night. Last night, my grandparents called to wish me safe travels, but unfortunately, I missed their call. I was in the town they live in today, getting my teeth cleaned (no cavities, yay!) and doing a couple of things. They were out when I called, so I couldn't go visit.

Before I go any further, let me tell you about them. My grandpa is going to be 92 in December. Grandma is 88. They have been married for almost 65 years. Grandma had open heart surgery this year, and the dr didn't think she would make it, but 2 days afterwards, she was out of ICU and a week later, she was released from the hospital. She is spunky! She says that her favorite part of the day is kissing my grandfather goodnight. They always hold hands. I wish I could find love like that.

So they just called me tonight to talk. I spoke with Grandpa for a while and then asked for Grandma. He said, "Let me find the SEX KITTEN, as I call her..." OMG! He said he has to watch out, how she chases him. So Grandma gets on the phone, and she says, "The problem is, when I catch him, I don't know what to do with him!" I hope like heck that I have that kind of relationship when I am approaching 90. The sense of humor that those folks have. You know that some of the dirtiest things that get said when my entire family is having dinner are said by her?!?! She sounds innocent, but if you look at her, she gives you this little wink, and you know she is being devilish.

I am smiling just thinking about them, and I have totally forgotten about the headache I had 5 minutes ago.

Sick

Why is it that whenever you actually have something big coming up, your body decides that it wants to be sick? I am supposed to sing at a wedding that I am in on Saturday. Currently, my throat is on fire and it hurts to swallow. ERR.... I barely ever get sick, but sure enough, I have something planned, and that is when the germies always come out and play. I am doped up on amoxicillin, dayquil, robitussin, and throat spray... I hope it works. ugh...

I hate mornings...

So yesterday, I had a terrible migrane, and slept all afternoon. Still felt crappy last night and went to bed around 11. At 4am this morning, guess who was wide awake?? That would be me. I laid in bed for about a half hour and decided to get up. I found some really great websites for plus size girls and vintage clothes, like.. http://www.vivalavintage.com/ Check it out! Lots of others at this site: http://beautypluspower.com/directory/index.asp which is from the www.torrid.com website, and there are links for all kinds of plus sized clothing shops! Yay! I also dyed my hair, did laundry, hung up clothes, went through my closet for the hurricane victims and took a shower. I am now dressed (and wearing my fabulous new black wedge shoes with silver grommets - love them!) and ready to go to work. Of course I am going to crash and burn in about 2 hours... oh well!

The things they don't tell you

So, I have been on my diet now for 12 weeks, and I am doing really well. I've lost 43 lbs and a few sizes and I feel great about myself. But noone ever tells you, when you first begin to lose, how to deal with extra skin. I think I would probably lose another 30 lbs without the skin that is hanging on my belly and my "pouch"... Yes, there is still some fat to be lost, but there is alot of skin. And, since my body is going to keep changing until I get to the weight I want to get to, there really isn't anything I can do about it. I will not wear restrictive undergarments every day (it is too hot, and I would be too grumpy). So, what to do? Baby powder is my best friend. I have some great bras to help the girls.... they are becoming a sad site too... I've always had C cups... and I have never been particularly perky, but they looked okay. Now... I am slowly moving towards a B, and they are just looking sad... Just call me droopy dog.

So... If you find any miracle cream or secret trick to it... tell me. And I vow, if anyone I know is losing a significant amount of weight, I will warn about the "extra extra" noone mentions!
